:: The 3rd Man
The 3rd Man is a third party risk screen tool included in all payment gateway packages. It gives you a retrospective informed report on all of your transactions up to two hours after they have taken place. As goods are not usually dispatched immediately after a payment is made, this window of time allows you to evaluate the risk associated with the transaction and take appropriate action.
The 3rd Man screens your transactions against their extensive transactions database to generate a score indicating the risk of fraud to your business. For example, if card has been used fraudulently with another merchant for which The 3rd Man screens, it will increase the risk of fraud to the fraud score. Each score is displayed using a traffic light system.
If you add SECGuard to your payment gateway account, there is a 3rd Man plug-in that gives you an automated decision in real time based on the rules that you have set up.
