Q Has my payment gone through?
A

If you receive a payment confirmation e-mail it means you have placed an order. The email will contain information about the order you have made and will contain a transaction ID that we use to identify your purchase. If you have any queries regarding delivery of your product please contact the business that you ordered from. A payment confirmation e-mail will be generated with a different transaction ID number for each purchase you make. If you receive two or more payment confirmation e-mails for whatever reason, please contact the business/website owners immediately and make them aware that you have placed multiple orders by mistake.

Q Your system says that my card number is invalid
A

Please double-check your card number. Are you entering the long number that spans the width of your card? This is the number that we require. This should be 16 or more digits depending on your card type. Some cards have a “Card number” printed on them this is often an 8-digit number. This is not the number we require.

Q Error Message: We were unable to authorise this payment based upon the credentials supplied
A

This type of response corresponds to a decline from the processing bank. The authorisation process is carried out by the bank and PayPoint.net has no part in the subsequent decision. The decline message is sent to PayPoint.net by the bank with no explanation or justification. The reason for a decline is often to do with incorrect information entered, which does not relate to your card. Please ensure you correctly enter all required information including issue number (where applicable), expiry date, valid from date and security code.

Security

Q Is my payment secure?
A

Security is an important concern for both the consumer and the merchant during an online transaction. In reality an online transaction is often more secure than a card transaction in a shop or conducted over the telephone, as the information transmitted online is highly encrypted.

The PayPoint.net payment system uses proven techniques to ensure the security and integrity of sensitive data. Our public web servers are certified by Verisign, a public Certificate Authority, ensuring that both the consumer and the merchant can have confidence that nobody can impersonate PayPoint.net to obtain confidential information.

Data storage on PayPoint.net systems and the communication between PayPoint.net and the worldwide banking networks, is regularly audited to the highest standards to ensure a secure transaction environment. This includes specific regular third-party testing for vulnerabilities and reviews of application security and access control procedures.

Indeed, for three successive years, PayPoint.net has been certified by Visa and MasterCard for our Data Security Standards, achieving the most advanced level of compliance in the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards. PayPoint.net maintains a detailed Information Security Policy and presented at the 2007 eCommerce Expo in London on card data security.
